MYCERT Free Remote Scanning Service MYCERT is offering a free remote scanning service for organizations that would like their server (or services) to be scanned remotely. This service is by no means a complete nor full security testing exercise but act as a complement security measures implemented by the organizations. Since this is done remotely, the report which is produced at the end of the exercise will give an insight to the organization of what is visible from a 'remote attacker'. How is the scanning conducted? MYCERT will normally utilize off-the-shelf and freely available remote vulnerability scanning tools. The scan and the report generation is fully automated. The organization is therefore expected to verify the results and take the necessary steps to secure the server being scanned. What is reported at the end of the exercise? Remote scanning or an organization's server or servers based on the IP or domain names provided. Identification of the Operating Systems. Identification of open ports and services misconfiguration. Identification of older or vulnerable applications running on the server. Recommendation for applying patches, fixes and upgrade if applicable. Recommendaton for applying hardening measures.Advise/recommend on relevant hardening
Who is Eligible for the Service? The service is offered to all local organizations, regardless of which sectors or business entities they belong to. How Long it Takes to Know the Result? It will take around 3 to 4 working days to scan and produce a generic report of the server or servers being scanned .
